Ingrown Toenail

Here's my own experience with "Ingrown Toenail"
*Warning, may bore you out.

Ingrown Toenails Facts
This is a painful condition of the toe. It occurs when a sharp corner or edge of the toenail digs into the skin at the end of or side of the toe. Pain and inflammation at the spot where the nail curls into the skin occurs first. Later, the inflamed area can begin to grow extra tissue or drain yellowish fluid.
1. If left untreated, an ingrown toenail can progress to an infection or even an abscess that could require surgical treatment.
2. Ingrown toenails are common in adults and adolescents but less common in children and infants. They are more common in men than in women. Young adults in their 20s or 30s are most at risk.
3. Any nail can become ingrown, but the condition is usually found in the big toe.
What Causes an Ingrown Toenail?

1. Tight-fitting shoes or high heels cause the toes to be compressed together and pressure the nail to grow abnormally.

2. Improper trimming of toenails can cause the corners of the nail to dig into the skin. Nails should be trimmed straight across, not rounded.

3. Disorders such as fungal infections of the nail can cause a thickened or widened toenail to develop.

4. Either an acute injury near the nail or anything that causes the nail to be damaged repetitively (such as playing soccer) can also cause an ingrown nail.

The Story

Yes, me and my "Improper trimming of Toenail" had led me to suffer for several Months. Why months? Because i thought it would "heal" on it's own over time and it wasn't such a big thing then (early november 2016). But sadly, i thought wrong.. apparently. Image

No one else knew except for my sister, why i didnt tell my parent? Cause i didnt want to add my toe problem onto their shoulders and make them worry, after ofcourse, getting a good scolding ugh. It was wholly my fault, i do blame myself, and i just wanted to get it done with.

" If it truly is an Ingrown Toenail, Google is not your friend. Doctor is. "

My biggest mistake was to leave it be. With numerous lectures, scoldings and fights over this with my not so dear, sweet boyfriend who came to know about it at that point, he agreed to accompany me to the clinic.

Since i was paying the fees on my own, i had to look for a more affordable but trustable clinic in Singapore, and dear it took a load lots of courage for me to even step into the clinic after all the research on the surgery removal. Anyways, after 6 shots of Anesthetic and still feeling the pain, urgently wanting it to be removed, i went along with the surgery and it was the most painful thing i've ever experienced (so far k). Screaming, with only my boyfriend there to witness that horrifying moment. Only god knows what was going through my mind then, LOL way too dramatic now. Image
